Newbie here. Need from ground up assistance

I'm playing an electric violin with a 1/4 inch output from the pickup to a Fishman Tonedeq AFX/Pre-EQ-DI which has 1/4 output jack as well. Am I plugging into my desktop in the mic-in port? If not, kindly advise. Thx

Mike

Hi stringsplus,
Ideally the XLR output would be connected to a USB sound interface like a Focusrite Scarlett.

Built-in 1/8“ mic inputs on computers are usually noisy, require a 1/4” or XLR to 1/8" converter plug, and are also not designed for the instrument/line level signals that the Fishman DI produces. You could try this but it may not result in good quality audio.
