This one one of all possibilities of progression?! “em c g d” ^^

Anyway, nice idea - only not my favorite of progressions….I'm already working on it.

It's part of the challenge . Can you make it sound “different”?

I have an idea I started working on last night…

Battle 2017 - Recording challenge (Deadline: Dec 23 2017)

Here is my entry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Lr-4-ObQAc

To make the chord progression more interesting I added color to the chords in the beginning of the piece.

Beginning: Em(add9) Cmaj7 Gmaj7 D
Bridge: Am | Cmaj7 | Am(add9) Am(maj7)(add9) | Cmaj7 C6 | D7 | D7
Outro: Em C G D and end with Cmaj7

I recorded several guitar tracks and bass with Ardour (DAW). The drums are Hydrogen with Calf Reverb.

The lead guitar tone is a Fender Twin Reverb model with an overdrive pedal and delay. The fingerpicked guitar is a clean Marshall model. The outro has double-tracked rhythm guitars, one through a dirty Fender Twin Reverb model and the other through a Tube Screamer through the Twin. I used a Line 6 James Tyler Variax JTV-69 on all guitar parts.

The bass was recorded through a compressor and DI.

That's fine. Varying the timing, starting point, or adding notes to the chords makes it interesting.

I see you spared no expense in HighAction Studios and got the whole band together. I hear lead guitar, rhythm guitar, keyboard, bass, and drums! Cool!

Wow, good effort! The lead guitar sits well in the mix, the Ibanez GAX30 sounds fine.

Yes, that's fine. How long each chord is played is up to you .

Maybe we should try it out live.

You're welcome to submit a recorded jam.

Composing and recording a track is a different experience from jamming live. I recommend trying it! I recorded around 3 takes of each part on average and chose the best ones. Playing all the instruments (rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass, drums, etc) makes it necessary to think carefully about how they fit together.

Jamming live is still the most fun for me, but recording is a good challenge every once in a while .
