Jos
I installed Jammr on Linux Mint. Using it with the defailt setting, not using an input, I only hear noise.
The noise changes (a bit) with the bar progressing. Below is part of the log file.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Jos

Hi Jos,
Please try the following:

Input device: HDA Intel PCH: ALC662 rev3 Analog (hw:1,0)
Output device: HDA Intel PCH: ALC662 rev3 Analog (hw:1,0)
Sample rate: 44100 Hz
Latency: around 10 milliseconds

This will bypass PulseAudio and use the soundcard directly.

It may be necessary to set PulseAudio to leave the audio device alone while you are using jammr. You can do this with the “pavucontrol” utility by going to Configuration and then setting the built-in HDA Intel PCH device to “Off”.
Jos
Hi Stefanha,

I think I am half way: no distortion, I hear other musicians. However, I do not hear myself. The
Configuration Tab is now:

Built-in Audio
Profile: Off

Built-in Audio:
Prfile: Analog Stereo Duplex

E-mu 0202
Profile: Analog Stereo Input

Any additional ideas?

Thanks,
Jos

Hey Jos, have you activated Playback in the settings?
Jos
Yes, I checked “Play back my audio.”

Now I have a different problem: after connecting successfully once
(I could hear people play, not myself) I could not connect again. In Settings
I could not set Sample rate and Latency. Apparently they are 0. See below..

Hi Jos,
Did you close the settings dialog so that the audio settings are saved before joining a jam session?

If that doesn't help, please post the contents of ~/.config/jammr/jammr.conf. Thanks!
Jos
Yes, I saved the settings.

The are the conf-file contents:

…sampleRate=0…
Well THAT looks suspect!

Guessing that should probably be 44100?

Here's my audio settings from the conf… I'd check into why your latency and sample rates are zero.

hostAPI=ALSA
inputDevice=default
latency=0.0058
outputDevice=default
sampleRate=44100
unmuteLocalChannels=true
Jos
Julian, thanks. I noticed the 0's too. I will tell you what happens.

1) I leave jammer.conf as it is, with the 0's.

When I select a server with header “Failed to start audio”, with tips
about how to proceed. After closing it the settings windows opens.
The sample rate and latency fields are blank and cannot be edited.

2) I put your 0.0058 and 44100 in jammer.conf.

I can select a server now. I hear people plaing, but do not hear myself.
The settings windows behaves as under 1. After I exit Jammer
the latency and sample rate in jammer.conf are both set to 0.

Strange. Maybe I should reinstall.
julian_vickers
Hmm… It sounds like we're on the right trail. Stefanha, Jammr shoud rewrite the config file on saving changes, correct?

What happens if you run jammr with sudo privileges (sudo jammr from the command line) , then try to save the configurations again?
