Hi everyone. Glad to be here, glad that the tech has evolved to make this possible. I’m an English teacher, writer and researcher living in Wisconsin in the U.S. I play harmonica and write songs.

I started missing the opportunities to jam that were part of my life in Chicago, but when I moved to Wisconsin and, later, started using meeting software like Skype, the lag was too great to allow for satisfactory jamming. A student recently suggested that I search for something that would allow me to jam with some of you live, and here I am.

I don’t understand how to use this yet, how to join jams. If anyone feels like offering advice, I’d be happy to hear it.

I look forward to meeting some of you.

Welcome Loupgrru!

After you have installed jammr on your computer, launch it and you'll be able to set up your sound settings. If you have recorded music on your computer before, then the settings will be familiar. You only need to do this setup once.

Next you'll see a list of jam sessions that you can join. Each jam session is shown with the users that are currently jamming. Depending on the time of day there might be several jams going on or there might be no one else online. If there's no one, just join an empty jam session and stay connected for a little while - that will increase the chance that someone will join you.

There are guides covering various aspects of using jammr here: https://forum.jammr.net/1/

The ones to check out first are:
1. The audio setup guide: https://forum.jammr.net/topic/1987/
2. How to jam together successfully: https://forum.jammr.net/topic/1724/

Happy jamming!
